I've been thinking of something actually (Sorry if this belings in stranger section).
*Spoilahs* When you are on the way to New Yolk City you see various wall paintings made by yours truly the grubs. Many of them confuzzle me. Are they about sekto and stranger duking it out and sekto stealing their water and all that jazz? *end spoilahs* |
For the most part, yes. The grubs have a prophecy involving a demon who steals their water and a steef protector. Listen to more conversations to uncover these smaller details.
|
Is it a prophecy? The Grubbs believe that misfortune will strike those who stop the river's flow, but I don't think there's any indication that their identifying the Oktigi came before Sekto moved in. I'd always thought that they were telling the story, but Clakkers just thought they were superstitious, and found logical explanations for their ܘbeliefs’ (as Eugene does).
On a related issue, it's always bugged me that Eugene describes an Octigi as a Grubb demon - are they poorly versed in the industrial races of Oddworld, or is Octigi just the Grubb name for Sekto's species. I doubt that, but how would they know his species? |
I suspect that people aren't aware that there is a race called Octigi because every time one rises to power it takes a different form, by controlling the body of an animal of another species.
SPOILERS: I haven't seen the paintings in a while but are they possibly hinting towards the fact that Sekto is controlling a Steef? |
Now that you say it, there's a rock art like that indeed...
|
That kind of art is scattered all over the place in the game. I loved exploring and finding more native art.
|
Yeah, the various cave-art and paintings have been some of my favourite designs from the games, as can be represented by my avatar.
Xav, how did you get that image? It's a really good one. |
I never saw that image before. (Although my memory is a bit foggy). What part of the game can you find it in?
|
One would assume Stranger's Wrath seeing as that's a) The only game where Octigi and Steefs are mentioned and b) The game we're talking about.
[/Biting Sarcasm] |
You know where the cave is, in Stranger's Wrath, on the way to New Yolk City?
You know those Green Mushrooms? Look near those, I think I remember seeing some kind of art on those cave walls, I'll have to double check tomorrow. |
Is OWI still located in California or did they move?
|
They are in Berkeley now, they used to be in San Luis, Obispo.
|
Could someone post pictures of all the upgraded ammo in Strangers Wraith?
Please?:spin::spin::spin:
|
Just look on the SW website.

Here you go, Sir.

"Spoler"
Why do you think Sekto wanted to control a Steef? Why not a Outlaw? I don't think he is the kind of type that would fight.. |
I think he wanted to control a Steef because he is likes to control such a powerful and honorable figure. He gains satisfaction over the fact that he can make the great guardian do whatever he wants, especially destroying its land and species. Irony I guess.
|
But Sekto wouldn't want anyone to know he is a small octopus. People would make fun of him if he shared this secret. He doesn't look like the kind of person that would feel happy inside. As an outlaw, he could have bigger forces with all the minions.
|
Why would he have more minions? He already had the majority of the outlaws plus the Wolvarks working for him.
|
OK, you guys win. I just was giving more possiblites.
(Would I get in trouble for this topic?) |
No. There are no stupid questions on OWF.
Only stupid people. Oh, and the question about whether we would see an Oddworld Movie is probably the exception to the rule. But, I would say that Sekto controlled the old Steef because it had come hunting for him. Sucking onto it would be his form of defence, as well as means to control a possibly stronger creature. I mean, what can compare to a Steef in its peak physical condition? |
Your right, what could compare to a steef in peak condition?
I also agree with HobbitNinj for sure. Sekto looks like someone who would gain pleasure out of controlling something as noble as a steef and forcing it to kill (indirectly) the very people he was sworn to protect. |
Well, you all made instresting answers. But, what kind of controlling did Sekto do? Did he make him go in a trace and force him to do his every bidding? Or did Sekto make the steef's brain useless and Sekto was in control? If it's the second one, the steef isn't being totured and won't remember a single thing. He or she wouldn't know it's actions. Sekto would find pleasure knowing..... Crud, I just proved my own question. But yeah, the steef's protection would become useless.
|
I would say it takes over physical control of the body. But that's a good question on whether the subject retains perception of what is going on. I would think that it is limited at best, if only because his eyes and ears were hidden inside Sekto's suit.
