I saw the new Friday the 13th. It wasn't bad, but I've seen better. Really, I think I just went to see it for the novelty of seeing Jason on the big screen again.

The last thing I watched was Cloverfield. Again.

Cloverfield... (Abe Babe)
Ever heard of too much of a good thing?

EDIT: Not that I'm saying Cloverfield was good.

I've been watching a lot of 'Curb Your Enthusiasm'. Larry David is a funny man.

Also, holy shit and all that to Abe Babe coming back.
That and Flight Of the Conchords are all that's keeping me watching television.

The other day I finished the series of Firefly. I had been watching the last few episodes slowly because I knew that once I got through them, there would be no more. What an absolutely fantastic show. Fox were a bunch of pants-on-head-wearing fuckshitnutsos to cancel it.

Then, tonight I watched Serenity. Fantastic movie. I didn't think there would be any way that I could come out of it with any sense of closure on the story and the series, but I do. One of the few tv-to-movie adaptations that stayed true to what was good about the show and yet made it bigger and better.

I watched VideoDrome at roughly 4 AM today, and fell in love all over again.

Other than that, we've been watching nothing but Dexter, Battlestar Galactica, Lost, and Curb your enthusiasm.

I loved Dexter in the first season and despised it in the second. I hated it so much that I canceled my Showtime subscription half way through the season.

I feel your pain.

Luckily I've been pirating the seasons onto my junkdrive, so the only loss I'm facing is space.

...Oh, and time.

Also, we just finished watching Spaced, and jesus christ, was that ever brilliant.

Watched Blindness. It was like Lord of the Flies, but instead of boys it was the entire population, and instead of an island it was blindness.

So it was good. Except for the fact that after everyone goes blind it seems like there's a naked ass shot somewhere in the background.

I watched the Watchmen last night and I thought it was pretty incredible, far better and more faithful to the source material than nearly every comic to movie conversion nowdays. The montage at the start took my breath away.

The main problems I had with the movie (Apart from those mentioned by Kastere in his blog) are that the Comedian wasn't given as much sympathy as he was in the comic Cross that with the drawn out rape scene and around 9/10 of the audience came out of the movie literally despising him and that Veidt was demonized by everyone in the end, rather than it being entirely left up to the watcher whether his actions were just or not.

The bits that really stood out for me were both Dr Manhatten scenes (Although the first one was largely truncated), the super stylised way all the battles were conducted (You could almost see the KAPOW on the screen) and every scene involving Rorschach (One of my friends whispered to me that Rorschach was a totally unbelievable character because of the way he was acting and the ultra cheesy gruff voice he talked with, I whispered back at him that he was rather missing the whole point).

Most of the negative criticisms that Watchman has recieved are totally alien to me.

Veidt's portrayal REALLY pissed me off because I interpreted him as this charming sort of Melancholy billionaire. In the movie he's just a pompous dick.

Yes, the anvillicious point of Veidt declaring that his new world requires less obvious heroics was offset by the fact that Dreiberg still beats him and accuses him of having twisted ideals at the end, plus in the movie I don't think he was half big enough, he was meant to have the perfect body and be ultra handsome.

This is the only criticism that I have seen so far that I agree with. I also disliked that it was almost obviously him from the very beginning of the film.

I saw 'Coraline' a few weeks ago (I was just waiting for someone to post in this thread so that I wouldn't have to double post). I loved every second of it. It was much better than I expected. Far superior to "The Nightmare Before Christmas".

I wanted to see Coraline after hearing it was so good, and because some of the character designs from the commercials looked awesome.

Bender's Big Score and Beast with a Billion Backs were good and decent, respectively.

Bender's game was awful, possibly because Seth McFarlane worked on it.

Don't know about Into the wild Green Yonder, yet. I'm going to get it for my birthday, I think.

Oh LORD that was way worse than I thought. And I thought it'd be terrible.

Thoroughly enjoyed it though.

I liked Bender's Game.....

What I did see that was awful was Sweeney Todd. Far too much singing, and not even good music or singing at that. Ruined what could have been a great film.

Coraline, uniquely for a stop-motion feature, uses heads that have been produced by 3D printers from computer models to render the tiniest alterations in facial expressions, making the characters seem much more real. Two different heads can appear indistinguishable, but when used in the animation the produce a wonderful affect.

Makes me wonder what the point of using stop-motion is if you're going to do that, though. The price of stop-motion, CGI and three-dimensional printing.
