I normally don't like horror films but I must say, based only on the trailer, that it looks far more intelligent and creepy than any of the many pathetic excuses for horror films that have been released recently.

So far no pictures that look anything like Abstract Daddies, Mannequins, etc., but I'm hoping they don't leave them out.

I'm excitied. I have only played it like once and I got the shit scared out of me. But Silent hill is a very creative game, and I feel they know what they're doing with this movie.

Actually, whoever it is is uncredited. Ironically, I've never heard of any of the people who are credited.

I was excited at first about it, as I enjoyed watching Luke play the games. But blarg, it's like... For everything good thing heard about it, there's something bad also to be heard.

I read in an interview of some sort that the only main male character was just sort of thrown in. The movie's production was denied because basically all the characters were female. Pretty ridiculous.

The trailer and most images look pretty neat though... The atmosphere of filth seems perfect.

Well, they always tack on a balancing character to retool films. I mean consider Beetlejuice, it was Winona Ryder + Geena Davis + Catherine O' Hara vs. a flannel-clad Alec Balwin. Luckily Betelgeuse balanced it out, he easily contains enough testoserone to make up for two people.

That's not the same at all. I expect that all the main characters in Betelgeuse to have been originally planned to be in the movie as they all take on important roles in the plot.

This male character in Silent Hill was just thrown in.

Adam was actually a tacked on role. In the original script; Barbera lived alone in the large house because her husband had died. She bit it in a car wreck on her way to the airport (taking a vacation to clear her mind as suggested by her nudgey landlord), and spent her time searching for him in death. Eventually they were reunited during the seance scene. Yadda Yadda. Having Alec Baldwin play the role was just a bonus.

And here's a yummy fun fact kids: Originally the main character of Silent Hill was male! Holy amazing SHIT, batman!

Don't they count Pyramid Head as a male? No need to tack on bit parts when PH is one the scene. He can't be anything but male, and those of you who've played the game would know why.

agreed, I saw "Hostel" which was presented by him and it was totaly lame, only some nude chicks and explicit torture, one good concept but no decent story...
my advise don't pay to see that film.

never played the Silent Hill games, but I think I'll see that film anyway, it looks realy good. I absolutly love the atmosphere in those pictures.

Hostel was great compared to that Tarantino and Robert Rodriguez endorsed turd, "Wolf Creek".

To be sympathetic, the concepts of some of these films had potential, but they never managed to work with that.

The only Tarantino endorsed film I enjoyed was Sin City, but I can't watch it more than maybe once a year.

Like I said, the commercial is painfully unrevealing. It took me 3 or 4 tries to get these screencaps, because each picture is on the screen for maybe a quarter of a bloody second.

You may be confusing them with the Scrapers.

Yes. It, along with all the other Saw type pieces of shit, are what I call 'gore porn'. Talk about ****ing us as a race even further.

I have to say, Saw did a petty good job at filling a whole whale tank of crap in a one hour binge, I can't wait to see how Scary Movie 4 burns it.

It looks very well, I like the atmosphere and style, and froms the looks of it I think it captured the whole concept of Silent Hill. I've only played a bit of Silent Hill, quite creepy. And I love the creepy mysterious look in those images.

Saw II was okay. I liked the second one just because they made a subtle stab at emo kids (no pun intended). The first one bored the shit out of me and that's especially hard when I have nothing in my bowels.
For the love of Jesus and dead puppies, we need to commit silky smooth genocide of the kids and directors who endorse those types of films. Whether it's picking up a Saw shirt at your local Snot Topic, or just pounding your flounder to acheive a gore-gasm, the likes of em need to be painfully erraticated.

I have faith that Silent Hill will pull through for me and that I can hold my wang in peace (God bless you, Pee Wee Herman). But they've managed to screw up a good deal of films this and last year. Thing Thong was on my okay list, they probably could have condensed it into 2 hours at most, my eyes were practically humping the graphics though. Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, well, Tim Burton (and Danny Elfman respectively) is really losing his touch. Then of course we have The Fog remake, and then the Hills Have Eyes remake - both of which are just... wrong.

Though technically the Silent Hill movie isn't a remake, I'm sure if you got the right director - *cough* UWE BOLL *cough* - that they could fuck it up all the same.

PS: Leto, if you don't get on Xbox Live this weekend, I will rape you and Bambi with a shotgun in that order.
