Dude, Oddworld IS kid friendly in a lot of ways. Look at the amount of children in the fan base. Besides, many of the die hard fans discovered Oddworld at a young age.

No way in f***ing hell do I want that to happen.Sony only cares about money, so they will make it some generic copy of another popular game. Nintendo will make it too kid friendly for my liking, probably.
Dude, Sony has been around making great video games since
before the Xbox hit the shelves, as well as selecting the best ones
that other companies create.

I think Sony should have it but so should x box, Knowing nintendo they might make it into a kidy sort of game with a crap story, but then again they could make it much better..

I would love to see an Oddworld RPG. Taking your character to mudokon villages, deep forest with lots of shrines, caves, temples,... A few industrial regions. There's allready a lot oddworld creatures that could play a role. Some serious thinking needs to be done about how your character could develop. Magic abilities (chanting included) should be in such a game to.

I don't like MGS, but that is actually a good idea since he likes his games really cinematic like OWI. I think he would be one of the best people to give the video game license to.

Nintendo is also good because their games are always very high in quality.

Anyway, I dont think OWI will completely give up making games. Who knows, they might make games that go along with the movies.

An Oddworld RPG in a similar fashion to TES would be great.

A MMORPG would be nice too.

How about the mudokuns not being stupid? Most of them, when they are following you, they walk into mines and other explosives.
Plus to not have glitches like in Munch's oddysee, in the loading Dock bit in Vykkers labs, just at the bit where you are supposed to pull two levers to activate the water fountain to raise the water height, the two mudokuns that were ask to get to work by abe don't do it. I had to get munch to do the work...

They're not meant to work. It's irritating but that's what the puzzle is about. And the Abe games wouldn't be much challenge if you didn't have to herd the muds like lemmings.

Hi, I really don't know why here some people are thinking Mr Molyneux would continue the work of Mr Lanning. If there is anyone with the same graphics-style, then are that to my mind the developers of Rayman3. And what's my question. Would you say the devs of R3 have stolen a bit by Oddworld. Or have the Odds stolen by R3? Or nothing of that?

And my second question: Why want all these devs making movies? Lanning is there not the only one.

And: I think the hero of this Oddworld looks very -----strange. :-) I wouldn't want to play such an hero. And the other characters are also very ----odd. Don't you think, the characters are too horrible?

I'm not sure the rayman team has taken something from Oddworld, or the contrary. Rayman 3 was a fun game but I dont see what oddworld game you think it looks like. Plus I'm not sure Michel Ancel's team could carry on Lorne's work, but I have to agree king kong looks nice and beyond good and evil is a masterpiece.

to your second question: Lorne always wanted to do oddworld movie, he's been thinking about it for 15 years

Stranger looks too strange to play? Is that wat you try to say?
well tha's a pity because Stranger is one of Oddworld best games.

I've thought good and hard about this one, and I can't think of a single developer that I think would do as good a job as OWI did. I just hope to find that Lorne does business with one that excels on all levels.

muchman: he wants to make games and then a film of the games? It seems all the devs have too many daydreams. And what is he doing now? Making any new game? And how shall that game become a film? He could create everything with his computer.

Xavier: I see, you are a fan of your country.
Maybe the sceenshots are so similar because the developer-software is always the same. But the similarity of Oddworld and Rayman is anyhow evident. About the gameplay I cant say much, because I have never played Oddworld.

Lorne was very creative and had great ideas for characters and environments. I don't believe there are any developers that have the same creativity that OWI offered, so in my opinion there aren't any developers that could continue the OW series.

He co-created Oddworld, so I don't see any reason why he would
want to abandon it just because the lack of good progress.

Nintendo makes quality games. I wouldn't say they are always particularly kiddy. It's just that violence dones't make a good game alone. Some people buy crap games because they think violence is cool or something. Oddworld only has blood because it is generally pretty realistic, so they want it to look it etc.
Insomniac make some goddarn good games. The Ratchet and Clank series were bomb. But the style of games they make isn't the quite the same, it's hard to say how they would implement it. They are quite humorous though. Also, the characters and level designs a pretty creative. Wait...Ratchet and Clank was quite largely focused on the weapons. If you played as a Slig, became a Flying Slig, then eventually a Big Bro, and got to buy various weapons such as different types of grenades etc. *shrugs*
MGS? Never heard of it. Sounds good though.
Lorne should still end up there, off course. He's vital.

Mudos is crying out to the Heavens to be made a pen and paper roleplaying world to me and the quick, rules light Savage system is perfect for it. An official full color settings book from the artists of OWI would make my day.

........a fan of you country? because you like so much french-games.
........and Ubi likes shooters, for that reason I think they like that new logo. :-)
........and ubi isn't great.

In OW are glowing mushrooms too? I havn't seen that. I saw only these little fluffy ball-shaped creatures in cages. Looking like Andre of Ray3. And soft-drink-tins. And the weapons are similar. And the hats. And the landscapes. But I know, often hire the game-devs any outsourcing firm, wich is creating the objects. And maybe Rayman and OW have had the same outsource-firm. It's possible.

@Zerox: I'm thinking too Nintendo has the best games. The only problem is, they should make some more of them.

And for the eleventy bajillion time my call for an Oddworld RPG falls on deaf ears. Ah well, back to HERO FRED.
Oddworld ain't kid friendly, alright? The core mechanic of the original game was possessing others, using them to do your violent long distance bidding, and blowing them to smithereens. And AO/AE were difficult, total slaughterfests if you didn't have your twitch fu down. A fistful of fart jokes doesn't negate the fact that your cute cuddly characters were engaging in terrorism and grisly murder in a roundabout fashion.

Statikk--The times when videogames were any special thing are over. There are sooooooo many games on the market. You will find a couple of good games.
And if you need an art book, you should paint yourself one. It's anyway only kitschy, trashy, stuff. All these monsters and heros, I'm sorry, that's never art! It's not bad painted, but every lousy graphic artist can paint that. You don't need any special talents to do that. Only a bit time and exercise.
And if you then download any RPG-maker, you can even make a new game of your taste.

( Don't you think many game characters look like a vision of a drug-high? lol)

When I think about it, some of the darker levels in Rayman 3 had a bit of the Oddworld feel.Though I think Naugty Dog could make a good Oddworld game.

Hops: I have to admit you have pointed out a bunch of similarities between rayman 3 and MO/SW. But OWI creates all his art and design themself, they want to have all the creation work under control and made by them.

it may change in the future, but that how they made their previous games.

and Ubisoft is great SplinterCell, Rayman and Pince of Persia are among my favourite games
