Arrow Don't Buy A Game week

Just a one-off thread, I don't intend to go back to full-time posting here. I just want to air what I feel is an important issue that affects a good deal of us both here and on TGA.

Don't Buy A Game week was put forward by FairPlay, who reckon that the cost of games is too high, and the vast majority of gamers agree.
An individual game disc takes around 50p to make, yet the cost is around £40/$60 for a new game, and FairPlay aim to have that halved, making them the same cost as DVDs.

DBAG week takes place from the 1st to the 8th of December, as that is the week when the most games are sold. If fewer games are sold in that week, developers will take notice.

I fully support this, and urge everyone else to take part.

Sure, I'll participate. Of course, I probably wouldn't be buying any games during that time anyway...

No, I disagree with this. If games are made cheaper, the game developers will try and find ways to make games less expensive to create - they probably won't bother hiring people for plot and puzzles... ugh...

The thing developers have learned is most people are willing to pay $50 for a game. I don't think its high at all.

Yah, it is high. If you put in 30 dollars for publishing and a dollar to make, you are getting stiffed 19 dollars. I am a frugal consumer, or as my high school buddies like to say, a cheap bas...well you get the idea. If you want the price of a game to drop 60 percent or more wait 5 months. Thats it. Don't buy it Johnny on the spot, wait 5 months. You will save 5 to 6 dollars a month if you are patient..

You've got to know that game developers need a profit t make more games. If they lowered the price to how much it cost to make then they would get no profit. Most of these developers put a lot of work into making games, so they add that extra $19 to account for there hard work. Everything is going fine the way it is... At least games today don't cost as much as N64's did which was about $60-$70 per game!

I do think games are expensive but i guess they have a good reason for puting the prices up. Well i'll still suport your protest.

Hi Anna, nice to see you.

I won't be buying games for a while, that is unless I:

a) Get 5 A's on my end of year report

b) Save enough money

I am, if I get 5 A's or have enough money, like I said earlier.

However, I am saving for three things at once. An Xbox, Munch's Oddysee and something else special.

Please, cut the chit-chat now, only proper posts from now on. We could discuss this kind of stuff over MSN, if you would come on!

That'll never work, my parents are too smart.

They'll realise that i'll get at least 3-4 A's, which means forking over $150-200.
