As for the Kinto's question, my guess is that well be seeing them in the next game of the Quintology (mabye even Steef's game). But seince their reasons of creation were mainly for Quintology purposes we may have to wait for ME.

In the 2D games of Oddworld, paramites were thought of as sacred creatures. When you de-possesed them they wouldn't die.
In MO, paramite run was pretty much made for killing paramites. It's a really fun level, but what happened to the paramites sacred-ness? Why are we encouraged to kill them in MO?

Because not too much thought went into the final version of Munch's Oddysee. Self regenerating bombs? I digress. If you want an in-Universe explanation, here's an idea (not official). The Magog Cartel want to clear the Paramite Run for some kind of factory, so they place the explosives down to destroy/scare off the Paramite population in there. The Paramites, however, seem to avoid them. Now, enter Abe aka the player, and it's up to him what happens. He can lead them to the bombs, yes, but he can also possess all the Paramites and move them safely to the part of the Run without bombs. Problem solved from a 'Paramites are sacred' point of view.

In AE you COULD still run the Paramite off a cliff. Just like you COULD kill them here.

Yeah, but when you killed a paramite in AE, it would play the "death music" and Abe would go, "Oops!" So that gets me thinking that they didn't want you to kill paramites in AE and in Mo they did. Not that it wasn't fun!
What am I saying! I love those little paramite critters!

Im sure the OWI did not "want" you to kill the Paramites in MO, thats just not their aim. Im sure the bombs where just there to make getting through the level harder, however if you want a more realistic explaination than I like Max's.

Personally, I find it hard to understand HOW ANYBODY here can like a Scrab or a Paramite. I mean, sacred or not, they try to kill you! I mean, every time I see a scrab lunge from the next screen, my heart jumps in my throat.

I don't understand why so many people NAME themselves after Scrabs, either. I mean, girls sometimes like wolves. That was my first impression. But Scrabs aren't even like wolves, so where's the appealing factor?

And Paramites...well, the're buglike reptileswith a hand for a face. That in ITSELF is too damn creepy for me.

Don't get me wrong. I don't mind them. I know they inhabit Oddworld just as well as anyone else, but I just can't stand 'em.


Okay, my question:
Does Lulu hava a dopy, "Which way did he go, George" voice, or does he have a normal, gruff Glukkon voice?
Oh, and what does Tex sound like?

what do hearts taste like? and as for your Lulu question, he has a sort of dumb voice but still glukkonish, and for some reason in the middle of the gabbiar auction he has like a western accent...i donno, a glukkon voice with a touch "dumbness". and tex...well a glukkon from texas mainly...just yer average every day cowboy voice.

Lulu has a very dopy voice. He was intended to be like that, so as too make the contrast of a total loser making it big.

Tex on the other hand has style, and he sounds like a Texan. Thus the name Tex.

alcar i already told him that....and his voice isnt always dopy, like when he was in his suite with his slig his voice was normal.

I have a question, does anybody think that it's gross that Munch has to " fertalize" the can of Gabbiar?

AND

Who did the muds get their eye sewn shut? Was that the Glukkons doing?

Yes, it was the Glukkons. Who made the machines, I'd not have a clue. Though the Vykkers would be my best bet.

Yes it was the Vykkers who made the "Eyestich2000". However the Glukkon's made a use for it in AE by stiching all the Mine workers eye's shut, I don't think the Vykkers probably use it that much if at all.

If Gabbiar is like fish egss, then this is why Munch has to "fertalize". A female fish lays the eggs, and then a male has to come along and "fertalize" them, in order for the eggs to become baby fishies. It' the same way with chickens. The eggs we eat aren't "fertalized".

In order for Munch to save his race, he has to "fertalize" that can of Gabbiar! I'm not one to think that far into the game, but it is kinda interesting.

Was the big well in MO actually a "Well," or like a giant geological feature?
When I saw it on the XBOX special, it reminded me of a huge gyeser. Or am I wrong?

And, how do Mudokons pressurize the wells to work in such a way as to "shoomp" the user out of it?

The mechanics of wells are a mystery to us all, and frankly I quite like it like that. Oddworld doesn't need to explain everything, especially since sometimes the explanation is exceptionally poor. *remembers Lorne contradicting existing Oddworld fact regarding Abe's Moon* However, we do know that wells are a naturally occuring feature of Oddworld, and that both Mudokons and Glukkons have developed ways of mimicking this phenomenon. One theory put forward is that natural wells are actually giant plants and the wells themselves are actually flowers, and the 'lids' are sorts of petals. I like that idea, but the Big Well kind of disproves that theory, it seemingly being a geological formation - unless both are true, and it's quite a coincidence. That way Mudokons would not only utilise the natural geological wells but also use their psychic abilities to control the growth of plant wells, hence why you see them strung up in places of Mudokon inhabitance.

Industrial wells might just use some sort of complicated air pressure system. Like I say, I think it's much more Oddworld's style to keep it a mystery. I prefered just accepting teleporters until they explained them with magnets and electrodes. Then again teleporters in MO sucked (and where goes your explanation of magnets and electrodes, OWI?).

Now, I see where you're coming from with the Gabbiar being like fish eggs and also comparing them to chickens (in the sense that they would never have been fertilised, not that they're fertilised outside the body). However, since Gabbits are based off frogs, rabbits and dolphins just as much as catfish, tuna and sharks, I'd rather wait to hear where this nugget of information came from.

It would be interesting to know how Munch is going to fertilise them. In Paul O'Connor's third MO Designer Diary he mentions the possibility that Munch's mum might still be alive.

The Big Well was definitely blowing, as all wells do. Although I'd describe it more as one single enormous push.
